Last weekend, Markus Reiter and Thomas Messner started at the “OMNI BIOTIC Apfelland Stubenbergsee” Triathlon. Like last year the various competitions were top organized. Swimming took place in the beautiful, about 20 degrees warm Stubenbergsee, before it went on a hilly and challenging bike course. The final run course led around the lake, where the spectators as well as the swimmers whipped the athletes along. The crowning glory of each event was on the one hand the beautiful weather, on the other hand the pompous finish line, which was additionally enhanced by a grandstand with numerous fans, motivating music and the commentary team Till Schenk & Barbara Tesar.
Markus started over the Olympic distance and Thomas over the half distance. Markus was able to swim in the front group and got out of the water in eighth place. Unfortunately, he lost some time and some places in the first transition area but found himself in the top ten after the challenging 40 km on the bike. With a personal best on the final 10 run kilometers Markus finished in 2h19min as tenth overall and secured the 2nd place in his age group.
Thomas started the following day over the middle distance. After a hectic mass start in the swim, he came out of the water with a good group, but just missed the connection to a larger bike group in front of him. So he was alone in a wide field together with another athlete. The run course led four times around the lake. Despite hot temperatures it went well, and Thomas finished after 4h10min also as an overall tenth and delivered with a 1:10h half marathon the fastest running time of the day. Congratulations!
Thomas Walluschnig participated in the Aquabike at the WEM. With the fastest swim time he changed to the bike as the leader, but couldn’t keep the position on the really demanding bike course over 90km and finally finished as second overall. Also, here congratulations to the success!
